Welcome to the University of Memphis Center for Information Assurance.
The Computer Science Department in collaboration with the Management of
Information Systems department of the Fogelman College of Business and Economics, the
Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice,
the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Herff College of Engineering
and The U of M Information Technology Division have worked to receive certification under
the Committee on National Security Systems
for standards 4011, National Training Standard for Information Systems Security (INFOSEC)
Professionals, 4012, National Information Assurance Training Standard for Senior Systems
Managers, and 4013, National Information Assurance Training Standard For System Administrators. The Center for Information Assurance also spearheads the efforts of The U of M as a Center of Excellence in Information Assurance Education.
This means that students of UM who take the required
courses can receive certification in these three categories of the
Information Assurance profession. Students taking the To Be Announced
courses in Computer Science will recieve this accreditation beginning in
Fall 2006.
The Center for IA is dedicated to providing world-class research, training,
and career development for Information Assurance professionals and students alike by organizing
community events, special purpose conferences, and vendor specific training programs.

- November 28, 2007 - Announcement of the availability of 2008-2009 Scholarships in Information Assurance , funded by the U.S. Department of Defense.
- September 15, 2007 - The Center received a ~38k grant from the NSA for Information Assurance Capacity Building.
- September 5, 2007 - The University of Memphis hosted the Cyber-security for Modern Networks seminar, co-sponsored by Cisco Systems Inc.
- May 16, 2007 - The Center will host DHS/G&T Cyber Security Training Partners' Meeting on May 21-22 at the FedEx Institute of Technology
- March 28, 2007 - Guest Speaker, Mr. Brian Burns, Title of Talk: .Information Risk Management: Practical Security., Manager, Information Risk Management, AutoZone, Inc, Location: FIT 324, Time: 3:30PM -4:30PM
- February 1-2, 2007 - Kickoff meeting on DHS Cyber-Security Training Grant (ACT Online).
- December 11-14, 2006 - First Cisco Network Security Bootcamp is successful completed.
- December 12, 2006 - The Center received $4M Competitive Training Grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. This grant is in collaboration with Vanderbilt University.
